In December, we had our chapter Christmas Party! Members worked in teams to create "gingerbread houses" out of graham crackers and various candies. We listened to Christmas music and ate pizza!
Our October meeting was the Chapter Halloween Party. This year it was hosted at BGM. Together, we carved pumpkins and talked about upcoming events/news. Those in attendance also got to enjoy brownies!
On the Monday of FFA week, we had a few people in our chapter bring small animals to the nursing home in Brooklyn. The residents in the nursing home loved it. This was a fun and easy way to get more involved in the community and advocate for agriculture and FFA.
Every year on the Friday morning of FFA week the chapter holds a staff and teacher breakfast. This year we served biscuits and gravy at HLV and donuts at BGM. The teachers and staff enjoyed the food and social hour time before the school day.
On Saturday, October 11th, members made and delivered lunches to local farmers. This year we served over 120 meals! We would like to give a big thank you to the Poweshiek County Farm Bureau in helping make this happen!
Members of the Chapter host their annual Harvest Breakfast. This serves as a fundraiser for the Chapter. Members make sausage, eggs, and pancakes and serve members of the community.
Members of the chapter spoke to elementary students to teach them about the importance of Ag Safety. Elementary students got a hands-on experience safely looking at equipment and learning about potential dangers. Members of our chapter educated these students on how to stay safe.
Our chapter visited Safe Haven, a local animal shelter in Iowa County where they volunteered. Members cleaned kennels and animal common areas, got to walk dogs, and interact with the animals.
Every year at the end of the school year, we host an annual banquet. At this banquet, we welcome members and their parents to attend. A potluck style meal is served and officers present members with awards from events and competitions that they have achieved throughout the past year. The banquet is a great way to get together and recognize the accomplishments of members!
For our first meeting of the year, we met at the community garden in Victor and helped to get it ready for winter. Members spent time removing plants that would not make it through the winter. Afterwards, we held a regular meeting and got to know each other some more. We played volleyball and ate a nice meal.
