This committee consists of members dedicated to chapter involvement. Their collective goal is to encourage members to attend, participate, and compete at the State and National FFA Conventions. This committee is also in charge of recruiting members to attend leadership development events such as Greenhand Fire Up, COLT, and the State Leadership Conference. Another goal of this committee is encouraging members to apply for degrees.
This commitee consists of members dedicated to helping beyond the chapter. Getting involved in the community is a great way to advertise for our chapter and gain support. Some things we have done include donating to the Angel Tree during the holiday season. Members went shopping and purchased gifts to donate. We have also delivered meals to farmers during planting and harvest seasons. As a chapter we have also volunteered at Safe Haven, an animal shelter in our county. We have hosted a blood drive in the community, spent time at a local nursing home interacting with residents, and volunteered at Grinnell Ag Day to assist with the children's tractor pull. Our Chapter also has greenhouses that we maintain at both BGM and HLV. Plants grown in these greenhouses are available for purchase by the community. Students learn how to interact with others and run a successful business. Chapter members help take care of the community garden by helping to winterize the area and take care of any maintenance needed. Another example of community involvement is our annual Harvest Breakfast. This serves as both a fundraiser and a way to interact with community members and gain support for the chapter.
This committee's goal is to promote agriculture within the school and community. Some ways that our chapter does this is by hosting Ag Safety Day at our elementary. On this day, we educate young community members on how to be safe around farm equipment, livestock, and various aspects of the farm. Other things this committee does is participate in Legislative Symposium, a day where FFA Officer's meet at the State Capitol to discuss current Ag issues. To advocate for agriculture and to increase involvement in our chapter we have also spent time talking to upcoming freshman about what FFA is and why they should join.
