Welcome to Valinda School of Academics, where we are dedicated to providing enriching educational experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and a passion for learning. At Valinda, we are proud to offer opportunities for students to engage in hands-on STEM exploration through the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Explore program.

FIRST LEGO League Explore at Valinda:

Each year in August, FIRST LEGO League Explore releases a new Challenge that focuses on a scientific topic. At Valinda, our students are sent on an exciting journey of discovery as they delve into the chosen topic, conducting research and exploring concepts in science and engineering.

Team Structure:

Students aged 6 to 10 or in grades 2 to 4 are invited to participate in our FLL Explore teams. Teams may consist of 2 to 6 interested members who work together under the guidance of at least 2 adult coaches. Coaches may oversee multiple teams to facilitate learning and collaboration.

Team Activities:

Teams at Valinda School of Academics engage in various activities throughout the FLL Explore season. They research the challenge topic, collaborate on the creation of a team poster, and design a LEGO model that incorporates moving parts. This hands-on approach encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity.

Options for Participation:

At Valinda, we offer two options for participation in FLL Explore:

• Competitive Team: Our school fields one competitive team that participates in official FLL competitions, showcasing their skills and innovation on a broader stage.

The Robolts

• Club Teams: Additionally, we have four Club teams that participate in our yearly HLPUSD FLL Expo, providing opportunities for students to engage in friendly competition and showcase their projects within our local community.
