Hitchcock High School

Coach Sowell is the high school AVID Teacher. She has a background in teaching Special Education. She completed her Bachelor's degree at Ashford University in 2015. In 2017, she received he Masters of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology. Then, in 2020 she received her second Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She is also the Assistant Volleyball, Basketball and Track Coach at HHS. Her teaching style reflects is that all students have the ability to learn and excel in and out of the classroom. She wants to assist her students in working towards accomplish their life goals. She always encourages her students to be the best version of themselves, and she is there to help them figure out what that is each step of the way. Her AVID class culture is that of a family, and she puts a great emphasis on team-building into her class culture.
