The Transcript
The Staten Island Transcript was established in 1891 as a successor to the Westfield Times. Arthur Y. Hubbell first published the Westfield Times in Tottenville in 1881. The South Shore Times and the Transcript later consolidated as the Times-Transcript, and was once the principal newspaper of the South Shore. The Times-Transcript office was at 3933 Amboy Road, Great Kills, and also in Tottenville. F. Ferdinand Petersen worked as a youth for Arthur Y. Hubbell on the Times, and later was connected with the Transcript.
