Whether you are planning to attend college or a trade school, enlist in the military or go straight into the workforce after graduation, there are many steps you need to take this year to ensure you are ready for the future! This page is dedicated to providing you information to help you on that journey. If you don't find what you are looking for - email Mrs. Graff at kgraff@hisd.com and let me know how I can help you!
During your time at Hallsville ISD, you have been provided with a school email address to assist in your communication efforts with teachers, staff and others. Now that you are preparing to graduate, it is time to use your own personal email address to communicate with prospective colleges, employers and scholarship providers. Remember: your school email will no longer be available to you shortly after graduation. Make sure you move any important messages to your personal account so that you do not lose access to them.
Make sure you are using an email address that allows these individuals to easily identify you and establishes a good first impression!
⭐Good email example: gregsmith@xyz.com or gregsmith24@xyz.com
🚫Bad email example: 2hot4u@xyz.com or immastar24@xyz.com
Save your logins and passwords somewhere secure! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!! Nothing slows down your application processes like spending extra time looking for or resetting passwords. Remember, most site passwords consist of the following requirements:
8-12 characters (longer is stronger)
at least one lower case letter
at least one upper case letter
at least one number
at least one special character (such as !@#$, etc...)
Many sites will use your email as your username. If not, create a username that allows you to be easily identified and is professional. This isn't a username for your social media, gaming or chat conversations - now isn't the time to be funny or use slang.
SchooLinks is a resource available to you to research college, career and military options and SO MUCH MORE!
Login to SchooLinks HERE or use the link in your Clever Portal.
If you submitted a college application via Common App - you should be familiar with that part of SchooLinks. If you have not logged in to SchooLinks - you should do so! Start by completing the surveys (they call them assessments - but don't worry, they aren't a test!) to help you navigate your college and career planning. Then, in the Activities Section, play the Game of Life so you can see how the decisions you make now will affect your financial future.
