WIND ENSEMBLE

The Hingham High School Wind Ensemble is an ensemble open to students in grades 9-12 by audition or director placement only. Typically smaller than the Concert Band, it meets during the school day (5 full rehearsals and 1 sectional per cycle.) Through the use of varied repertoire, warm-ups and assessments, the course is designed to develop intermediate to advanced musicianship skills. This process includes lessons in historical and cultural context, frequent self-reflection and playing both as a member of the ensemble and an individual. The Wind Ensemble performs four times per year (Fall Concert, Winter Concert, All-Town Band Concert, Spring Concert/Awards Ceremony) and has the opportunity to travel on regional tours with the chorus and orchestra.

Note: Members of the HHS Concert Band are eligible to audition for annual MMEA and SEMSBA music festivals, HHS Jazz Band and HHS Chamber Winds.
