Sing to the tune of
"Do You know the Muffin Man?"
Sing, we are the people in your neighborhood
Good afternoon! Welcome to Nursery Rhyme Town. We hope you enjoy traveling down our streets and meeting the people that make our community so special! Let’s start by visiting our local farm.
Little boy blue
Willa” Hi everyone welcome to the farm. Little boy blue has woken up and now it’s time for him to get to work. He’s about to help me , Farmer Willa, grow vegetables, take care of the animals, and get milk and eggs. It is hard work and I understand why he might fall asleep under the haystack.
Isla “ After he has done helping you, he has his music lessons from me to play that horn. I am his music teacher, and we sing, play instruments, and help people feel good by entertaining them.”
Willa” look the sheep have gotten away.”
Baa Baa Black Sheep
Johnny “ Don’t worry I’m the vet and I will check all of the animals to make sure they are healthy and don’t have any injuries. My next stop today is going to be at the zoo to work with a spider.”
Little Miss Muffet
Nora Anne “ I can’t believe that little Miss Muffet was afraid of a spider. I am the zookeeper. Welcome to my zoo where we take care of and feed large animals like elephants, giraffes, hippos, zebras, and lions, and small animals, such as spiders, lizards and snakes.”
Quincy” Hi Nora! Thank you for letting us host an animal shelter event here today at the zoo. We are hoping to find people who want to adopt the cats, dogs, lizards, bunnies, turtles, horses and cows that need to find homes and stay safe. It always makes me so happy when an animal finds a home. Oh no look at the sky. I hope it doesn’t rain”
Rain Rain Go Away
James “ oh no I am the landscaper here at the zoo and I help to take care of all of the grounds and make them look beautiful by helping the flowers grow and cutting all of the grass and bushes back. Today is mowing day. I hope it doesn’t rain too.”
Maddox “ don’t worry, weatherman Maddox Young here and I think the storm will pass by us. Since I track the weather, I let people know if they will need to go get their raincoats and umbrellas, but I think we don’t need them today! Time for me to head into town to visit the grocery store.”
Roses are Red
Andon “ hi everyone welcome to the grocery store. You can buy everything here from flowers to food or even an umbrella on a rainy day. When you’re done I’ll help check you out. Oh no, we’re out of flowers. Let’s go over to the florist to get some more.”
Camila “ hi Andon- did you guys run out of flowers again? I have some beautiful roses and violets on hand. We also have wildflowers that I can put in a beautiful vase if you would like. I love providing flowers for special occasions for everyone in the town. Wait do you hear those sirens?”
Ring around the Rosie
Kaili “ in Ring around the Rosie ashes fall down. In a fire or if something burns, ashes can fall down too. Firefighters help people by putting the fires out with water or chemicals. I can also help keep people who are in trouble just like in Jack and Jill.”
Jack and Jill
Milo “ as the paramedic it is my job to take people who go tumbling down to the hospital in an ambulance. Along the way, I will assess them and provide them help if needed.”
Miles “I hope Jack is OK! I love working with water! As the plumber, it is my job to know all about water and how to make sure it is safe for people. I also help when the water pipes get backed up and you can’t get that freshwater!”
It’s raining it’s pouring
Eva “ as a nurse when patients get to the hospital, like when they bump their head, I will take their temperature and blood pressure first. Then I will take notes on a chart about their injury and share them with the doctor.”
Aiden “ as the doctor I check peoples injuries to see what I need to do to make them better or help fix the problem. It takes a lot of people to make this happen so I have to coordinate a team. Wow it looks like it’s getting dark outside..”
Star light star bright
Wyatt “ I love to fly up in the sky, where you can see the stars good at night. As a pilot, I help people by flying them to different countries for vacation. I also help the community by delivering packages. Having good eyesight is important as a pilot and you need to always get your eyes checked.”
Angelique “ I am the eye doctor and if somebody’s injuries keep them from being able to see the stars at night, I want to make sure we can help them. I use machines to help see what is wrong with their eyes and sometimes they need glasses or contacts to fix their sight. Why did the lights just go out?”
Jack be nimble
Brooks “ sorry the lights went out. A long time ago people use candlesticks for electricity but now, as an electrician, I help to bring power to homes and businesses so that people can flip a switch or turn on a button to use electric whenever they want. “
Lexi “ as Jack’s sports coach electricity makes it much easier to jump than having to practice over a candlestick. My job is to help train people. I helping them improve their sport such as running, jumping or being part of a team sports such as soccer softball or basketball. All of this exercise is making me tired. I wonder what time it is?”
Hickory Dickory dock
Nora “ welcome to our nursery rhyme library. As the librarian, I can help children learn lots of things, including how to read a clock and to learn all about mice. We have books for that! Boy, my stomach is starting to rumble!”
Little Jack Horner
Dominique” Are you hungry? I like to put plums in my meals, too! As the chef I can cook you up lots of fun meals. I also love to make healthy soup with lots of vegetables to help my community grow strong.”
Kinsley “ after everyone in the community eats food they need to visit me - the dentist. If Jack eats too much Christmas pie, he might get a cavity. I help by checking everyone’s teeth and making sure they’re brushing. Maybe you’ll even get a surprise if your teeth are good and clean when you visit my office. What’s all that noise outside?”
Humpty Dumpty
Ryan “ poor Humpty was making a lot of noise when he fell off that wall. As a construction worker, I love to put things together to make them better or to create something new like a building or a road system for our community. Sometimes the equipment we use to build can be very loud.”
Casey “ When there’s a lot of construction going on, sometimes we have to help too. I’m a police officer, and I help keep people away from construction areas, but I also help to keep our community safe and make sure that people are following the laws. Mayor Zachary, how are you this evening?”
Zachary “ I am fabulous. Our town cannot work without all of these amazing people. My job is to help all of them by creating laws and making changes that are best for our community.”
