Session 1 -

With your child, listen to the teacher reading the story and asking some questions.

Your child's teacher will ask questions throughout the story and ask some more once it's finished. You can pause at anytime to allow your child to answer the question in a full sentence

e.g. Teacher: What did the dog do?

Child: jump

Parent: In a full sentence please.

Child: The dog jumped over the hedge.

You should correct your child if they answer the question incorrectly. This should be done in a positive way e.g. That's a great try, but I think...

Session 2 - Phonics

In Nursery we have started playing listening games to prepare the children for phonics teaching in Reception.

Play the games alongside your child, sometimes guessing the wrong answers, encourage your child to correct you!

Watch the video with your child and encourage them to think of their own rhyming ingredients for some silly soup!

Session 3 -

My turn, your turn.

Your child's teacher is going to say or do something, you must then do the same. It might be an instruction, a silly face or an action.

You should try to join in and encourage your child to copy and mirror their teacher in the video.
