Challenge yourself this week to a GRATITUDE scavenger hunt
*During times like these it is a great reminder to think about all the things we are grateful for.
Do this activity with family, siblings or even over FaceTime with a friend. Write a list of your answers or collect them in a bag. Once you complete the scavenger hunt share your items with each other.
HAVE FUN!
This week focuses on GROWTH MINDSET.
Take a look at famous singer/song writer John Legend and how he talks about his failures and his growth mindset. Think about a negative thought you had recently. How can you change that negative thought into a positive one?
Example: Our fixed mindset voice says things like, "I'll never be good at math. It's too hard. I give up." Our growth mindset voice can change that thought to, "I can't do this yet. I will practice, get help and try my best."
Stop yourself next time you have a negative thought about yourself, think about how you can reword it using your growth mindset.
This week we bring you a mindfulness challenge. We all have a favorite place or dream vacation spot. Put on some music that fits with the place you are drawing. Maybe its the soothing sounds of the ocean or the sound of a rushing waterfall. Begin by drawing that place, even if you've never been there.
On the back side write about...
Who you would take with you?
What things would you do there?
Why this would be your dream vacation?
*Think about how you feel after drawing and writing about your dream spot.
This week is TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK! Take a look at the video to see how big of an impact these teachers had on their former students. Take a moment this week to let them know how grateful and appreciative you are of them! This can be as simple as an email!
This week is all about goals and aspirations...
A vision board is a sacred place that displays what you want in life. When you hang it in a space where you see it daily your vision board brings your goals and aspirations to life. A vision board is a physical representation of a goal or goal that you're aiming to achieve. You are more likely to achieve your goals if you have a vision board somewhere you can see it everyday.
Things you will need...
poster board or card board from an old box you may lying around
old magazines
coloring supplies
scissors glue or tape and anything else you have lying around the house to decorate it with
We have been experiencing a lot of change in the world lately. Change that we don't have control over. Think about the change that you can control.
What is the biggest change you want to make in your life?
Why do you want to make that change?
What will it take for you to do it?
What quote or motto inspires and motivates you?
Write one of your favorite word, quote or motto on a blank sheet of paper and decorate it however you'd like. Hang it somewhere you will see it everyday. Or find your favorite quote on the internet and save it as your background image on your phone. It might help you in difficult times or when you need a positivity boost.
Wow, what a year 2019-2020 has been! It's certainly one we will never forget! As the school year ends, I encourage you to continue to stay connected. Never stop learning and trying new things. This week your activity is to create a summer bucket list.
Here are a few things on my bucket list that I challenge you to try...
Spend a LOT of time outside. Fishing, campfires, hiking, camping (you could try this in your backyard!)
Enjoy all the summer time foods-watermelon, fresh vegetables and of course ice cream!
Appreciate warm nights and make the most of your time. Star gazing. Read about constellations and see if you can identify as many as possibly (try the app SkyView Lite)
