CHOIR
The HIHS Choir, known as HI Chorale, is a dynamic ensemble of student vocalists united by a shared passion for music. Comprising members from diverse backgrounds and experiences, the choir exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and community as they work together to achieve musical excellence.
Under the dedicated guidance of their conductor, Ms. Nicolette Foo, our choristers undergo training to refine their vocal techniques, musicality, and ensemble cohesion. Each rehearsal and performance serves as a valuable platform for personal growth, artistic development, and the cultivation of discipline and teamwork.
In 2024, HI Chorale participated in several significant performances, including the Voices of Singapore Festival, the Papal Mass at the National Stadium, and a series of school-based showcases. These opportunities not only allowed the choir to present their talents to wider audiences but also played an instrumental role in building their confidence, enhancing their choral skills, and fostering a sense of pride and unity within the school community.
Through their collective journey, HI Chorale continues to inspire and uplift, celebrating the transformative power of music where every voice contributes to a harmonious and vibrant whole.
PRACTICE DAYS AND TIME
Every Wednesday and Friday
Wed: 3:45 PM - 5:45 PM
Fri: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM
SELECTION CRITERIA
Applicants should:
Demonstrate a passion for choral singing
Enjoy performing in front of an audience
Appreciate working in a team
Be able to train twice a week and participate in additional training sessions nearing competitions
Preferably have prior experience singing in a school or external choir
Applicants will need to prepare:
1) National anthem
2) One song of their choice (either a choir piece or musical piece - no pop songs)
For (2), a score must be emailed over.
During the audition, there will be range tests and aural tests as well.
Please note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee that the student would be shortlisted/ given an offer.
