Dreamers Lesson

Students had been learning about land immigration stories, different family structures, and traditions/celebrations. Students were introduced to the book Dreamers by Yuyi Morales. Students were read to while trying to make text to self connections and learn about the characters within this book and their journey.

After the read aloud, students were given an assignment where they would go home with their families and create their family trees and trace their ancestry as far back as possible.

Students then wrote about how they were once their ancestors wildest dreams and what they will one day become themselves.
