One of my teaching superpowers is that I am a restorative individual meaning that I adept at dealing with problems, like to figure out and solve what is wrong and resolve it. Another one of my superpowers is being deliberative meaning I take serious care in making decisions or choices, and anticipate obstacles. The compassion I have for students and the joy they bring me in the classroom is shown as soon as you step into a classroom I am teaching in. I genuinely care about my students and the learning they take from my class!
An area of growth in the classroom that I have for myself is how to check in with all students during x amount of time during a math/writing lesson. I'd love to learn techniques and strategies as I've found it to be a challenge for me to be able to check in with 24 students in a 15-20 minute timeframe. I believe it is important to be aware of all students and their progress in academics to be able to provide the language, tools, support and instruction needed for students to individually grow. Another one of my areas of growth is to learn how to not be so hard on myself and celebrate my accomplishments! Teaching is a beautiful journey. I too am learning alongside them and am always ready to take on a new challenge and acknowledge moments of gratitude!
Some questions I have for future classes:
How might I better include families into my everyday classroom environment?
How might I better support my EL students at the beginning of the school year?
