What are social interactions like in your workplace? Do people spend a lot of time socializing? Are people isolated, doing their own things? Lots of collaboration on work projects? Not much collaboration? How does the social dynamic impact or reflect the organization's work?
The interactions are a part of working at the capitol. It is a constant reminder that there are many people in this state and each one has a different story as to why they are there and there is always something new or surprising from connecting with someone. Whether it is in a meeting with stakeholders or with advocates of certain legislation, there is always someone having the privilege of being able to know the story of someone else or making a long-lasting connection.

What are you thankful for in your internship experience?
I am most thankful for all the experiences and the opportunity to be able to be a part of one of the most prestigious institutions of government in this country and quite frankly the world. I have been lucky to truly experience the day-to-day life of a staffer and be able to understand the drive/ motivation most of these people have in their work. From being able to meet advocates of problems that impact me as a high school student in San Diego to being able to connect with other staffers and legislators from all across this state. I truly appreciate the trust and support of both the capital office and the district office. I will take the time and name all of whom have made a lasting impact on me from this short internship, Cleo Solon, Vincenzo Caporale, David Takashima, and of course my great mentor Cynthia Yepez, and from the district office Chris Jonsmyr, Mayra Hernandez, Liliana Barba, Gabriel Nuño, Lisa Schmidt and of course my biggest thank you goes to Assemblyman David Alvarez for letting me explore my interest in government but also allowing me to explore a whole different version of what government does to support citizens of this world.
