Our Project:
During the second year of our project, 4th graders at HTeCV wanted to continue to raising awareness about the plastic they noticed on campus and get the whole school involved in tracking and reducing waste, especially single-use plastic bags such as chip and snack wrappers.
4th graders tracked their weekly habits throughout the trimester, logging their use of non-biodegradable waste and single-use plastics. They researched about the impacts of pollution on the environment and wrote informational essays to share their findings on their research.
They also learned about the process of ecobricking and how ecobricks are used throughout the world. The ecobricks students created were used to build a collaborative ecobrick structure that will live on in our school garden and built upon each school year. We began the garden wall last year and are excited to see it grow this spring!
