Grade 6 or better in GCSE History.

Course Content

For in history you have a record of the infinite variety of human experience plainly set out for all to see; and in that record you can find yourself and your country both examples and warnings; fine things to take as models, base things, rotten through and through to avoid.’ Livy.

Unit 1: Coursework on British History (Y100) (25%)

Unit 2: Pitt to Peel (Y110) (20%) Unit 3: Russia 1894 – 1941 (OCR 219) (15%)

Unit 4: China 1839 – 1989 (OCR 317) (40%)

Assessment

A Level: Coursework 20% of final grade and three written exams of varying length making up 80% of the final grade.

Progression Routes

• History offers a path to university or other forms of higher education to continue the study of history or related subjects such as Law, Politics or Journalism.

• You could also pursue a career in areas such as research, politics and social service.
