Individual Counseling
Adolescence is a time of many social, emotional, and physical changes for high school students. In school, short-term or crisis-based counseling can be used to help students and families meet personal and academic goals. Sessions are held in private and include approaches to build self-efficacy, increase emotional awareness, learn goal setting, and stabilize in moments of crisis. Counseling staff respect student confidentiality. Sessions remain private unless students are at risk for self-harm or harm to others.
Referral to Outside Agencies
Highland Local Schools works closely with OhioGuidestones to provide services such as individual and group counseling to students at home and in-school. We are also aware of various programs for substance abuse, eating disorder, emergency safety, and other mental health treatments.
