Track

Both the boys and girls track team have made it a tradition to participate in the SIJHSAA state meet each spring. At the state meet, many boys and girls have won medals over the years. In May, 2010, the Girls‚ Track Team won it's first ever Illinois State Track title bringing home the First Place Trophy. Both teams have won Tri-County Conference championships in recent years. The track team also takes pride in reporting that several collegiate athletes and one professional athlete were once a part of the HMS track and field program. The Highland Middle School cross country teams have more Southern Illinois state trophies than any other HMS program and counts two Southern Illinois state titles on their resume. In place since its inaugural season in 1993, the Bullpup track team has gained respect as one of the finest Jr. high programs in the southern half of the state.
