Resources for Families & Youth
The following resources are curated using information and links from a variety of local and national organizations. This information is not meant to diagnose or treat any medical condition.
Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
There is a new way for people experiencing a mental health crisis to call or text a three-digit number, 988, to reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and connect with mental health professionals trained to respond to such emergencies.
The hotline is intended to streamline mental health responses so people can get the urgent help they need much faster than by calling 911, which generally connects callers to law enforcement agencies rather than mental health professionals.
Family Assistance Program
This is an emergency youth shelter within the Family Assistance Program. The shelter provides critical support and housing for youth ages 12–17 who are in crisis, including those who may have run away from home or are experiencing homelessness.
Please see the attached flyer for more information about their services. If you know of any youth who could benefit from their support, please don’t hesitate to reach out. There are there to help and would be glad to assist in any way they can.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact us at Ourplace@familyassist.org or (760) 706-8019.
