The resource curse.

Even though country's get money from very valuable natural resources they sell, they can still be poor such as money flows into Nigeria in return for the nation’s soil, Valuable diamonds are found in Sierra Leone, Liberia’s rich mineral resources include diamonds, gold, and iron ore. This is called the "resource curse."

Since natural resources are so important, a country with many natural resources is expected to be rich. sometimes though A country with a large supply of a natural resource may be poorer than a country with a few natural resources.when a price of a natural resource is high the whole country does well.though, when the price falls the country gets less money. For example,Venezuela depends on money from oil to make its economy. though, when the price of oil fell in 2015 and 2016, its economy suffered.

Businesses are also at risk when a country depends on a natural resource for most of its money because then the businesses only focuses on making that natural resource and doesn't focus on making any other resource. For example, Nigeria had a strong farming industry before they began selling oil because the number of farms and factories dropped and the country’s leaders focused on selling oil.

People from a country often lack jobs when a natural resource is a country’s main source of money. The natural resource industry creates few jobs that pay a lot of money. Products made from resources are usually made outside of the country. Other problems grow from where the incoming money goes. A valuable natural resource brings a lot of money into a country.

Businesses from all over the world pay the country for the right to take the natural resources they need. This money may go to only a few people. A small group of leaders may keep most of this money for themselves and not use it to benefit all the people in the nation. This brings a greater divide between the rich and the poor.

Money for the resource comes from outside of the country. This may give the leaders little reason to help their own people create businesses or find jobs. Roads might be built only to help the companies that collect or use the natural resource. People may earn very low money pay for their work. They could be forced to work in unsafe conditions. These actions can give rise to problems. People become upset with the government. They dislike its control of the country’s natural resources and its money. This sets the stage for conflict within the country.
