We used our advisory class time to do research, connect with each other, brainstorm ideas, budget, plan out the food to be served, schedule a time to visit the venue and actually tour it to see what decorations to use, where to put food, things like that. We connected in multiple different ways through our advisory which is what made planning prom an easy and fun experience. Prom committee sold over 100 tickets on the last day of sale this year which was amazing as it took us over our projected number of students. (Luckily we planned about 50-75 over our expectation, so not many adjustments were needed!)
We've heard thousands of good comments like "The music was so good!", "You all made good choices with food.", "The venue was fun.", "We loved all the sunglasses and glow sticks." We felt coming out of 2023 prom that we had a lot to work on. We knew that our peers didn't love the DJ or they ate too much before to enjoy the food at prom. They also didn't like the 2022 swag item which was a t-shirt designed by a member of the senior class. We took all of that feedback into account when planning this year's prom and haven't heard any criticism yet!Â
