In this class students will explore, evaluate, and communicate information to compare and contrast the phases of matter, the Periodic Table to explain the relative properties of elements based on pattern of atomic structure and explain how atoms bond to form stable compounds. Students will accomplish these tasks by asking questions, planning and carrying out investigations, developing and using models and analyzing and interpreting data.
In addition, students will explore, evaluate, and communicate about the relationships among force, mass and motion. Through mathematical and graphical representations, students will investigate in order to analyze motion and provide evidence to support the claims of Newton’s Laws of Motion. Students will also analyze and interpret data to identify the relationship between mass and the gravitational force for falling objects as well as calculate work and mechanical advantage.
Tenth-grade English Language Arts standards focus on deepening students' understanding of literature, language, and composition through close reading, analysis of complex texts, and effective communication. Key areas include analyzing literary elements, understanding the impact of word choice on meaning and tone, and developing strong writing skills across various genres. Common Core standards also emphasize the importance of citing textual evidence, understanding central ideas, and analyzing how characters and events develop throughout a text.
Algebra 2 builds upon Algebra 1 and Geometry concepts. It introduces more abstract mathematical concepts and functions. It includes advanced topics like logarithms and trigonometry. We will be focusing on functions, equations, inequalities, polynomials, rational expressions, quadratic functions, and solving various types of problems.
Ninth Grade ELA focuses on developing students' reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language skills. These skills aim to prepare students for college and career readiness by emphasizing critical thinking, effective communication, and understanding diverse texts. Key things we will be working on: analyzing literature, crafting well-developed arguments, engaging in collaborative discussions, and ussing language effectively.
Stay tuned!
