Q: Who does a Capstone?
A: Everyone!
Q: When does this work take place?
A: Every day! Teachers should be actively engaging with students to determine what their passions are and how their specific Capstones can relate to content and earn credit in their classrooms. Advisory, however, is a space specifically created for Capstone work where students can really dig deeper into their topic with the help of a grade-level or specialty adviser.
Q: Can I use a portfolio of work, club involvement, or end of pathway project in another class as my Capstone?
A: Yes! As long as you meet all the components of the driving question and the Capstone portfolio (each page in this website shows you those), we recommend "double-dipping!" Talk to your teachers, advisers, or club sponsors to see how you can make something you're already doing your Capstone. When in doubt, ask Mrs. Bailey!
Q: What do I "get" out of it?
A: There are lots of perks to the Capstone process!
1) Material for college essays, scholarships, admissions, and interviews.
2) Material for job interviews.
3) First-hand experience in whatever path you want to take after high school - this saves you time and money in the future!
4) An extra grade for GPA padding!
5) Opportunities to get extra/replacement credit in your content classes if you meet standards in your project! (i.e. research in your ELA class from your annotated bibliography)
and if none of that's enough...
6) If you receive a 90 or higher on your final presentation, you get a medal for graduation!!
