Georgia Virtual School

All AP high school classes and some select other classes are only offered online through Georgia Virtual School.  You must have a GaVS account before applying for your course.  To register for your classes, you must first create an account with GaVS, if you do not already have one.  Be sure to record your Username and Password and write them down for future use.  When registering for an account with GaVS, please be sure to choose public school student in Henry County and mark that you attend Impact Academy.  Also, select “Bill my school” or “school will receive the bill.”  Once you have applied for the class/classes you need on the GaVS website, an Impact Academy facilitator will approve them accordingly.  All students will have to complete the GaVS  “Student Orientation Course” on their website before beginning your class.

Letter from our GAVS Facilitators

Welcome Back Parents and Students,

As we begin this school year, your child has elected to take a course(s) that are offered by GAVS (Georgia Virtual Schools). I will be the facilitator for GAVS students. This means that I am the first point of contact after your teacher to getting assistance with any concerns you may have within your course(s). 

It is imperative to note that GAVS has switched platforms and will be utilizing GENIUS for logging in/registering and CANVAS as their new learning management system. The new platform will automatically calculate your due dates much like the Edgenuity system. The only difference is that GAVS will still utilize a late work penalty system. This will be 10% daily past your due date until the grade equals a 0. This means you have up to 9 days past the original due date to turn your work in for some credit.  

Due to the new platform generating your assignment due dates based on the completion of your Acknowledgement Form Quiz, it is imperative that you do not take this quiz until January 10th when Henry County Schools is set to start. If you do not get into your course on January 10th, please have this completed no later than January 14th. If take this assessment prior to January 10th, you MUST start your course(s). Schedule changes and date changes do not exist. Again, once your course(s) start, you must work in them daily as there are no date or schedule changes this year. 

Some of GAVS courses fill up quickly, so please use the handout attached to create a student account or activate an old account with the new platform. Ensure that you are picking IMPACT ACADEMY as your school if you are creating a new account. You do not need to create a new account if you have had an account previous even if you used it with another school. Just let me know and I can have your account moved to Impact Academy. If you create a new account and already have an account, you will create delays in getting registered for your course(s).
