Tips for Success

Tips for Success:

1.) Set a routine, be consistent on when you plan to do work and when you plan to break.

2.) Have a workspace which is comfortable, and consistent. (A desk, at the kitchen table, etc.)

3.) Keep an agenda, or organizer. Write down when assignments are due, and check it frequently.

4.) Don't be afraid to take notes with paper and pencil - this will help you remember content.

5.) Take time to organize your google drive, create folders for all of your classes. This will make content easier to find. (How? Check out the video below.)

6.) Take time to unplug. You are on your computers a lot, find moments that you can take breaks from the screens.

7.) Find balance: get involved in your community, hang out with friends, be sure to sleep!

8.) Check Infinite Campus and HCS email daily!

9.) Keep in contact with your teacher. If you are struggling email teachers when you start struggling. While we may not check email at 3am, go ahead and email if you have a question when you have it (so you don't forget.) If you figure it out, simply reply back disregard.

10.) Breathe. Eat a good breakfast, consider going for a walk or being active. This will help you engage with your classes.

Student Crafted Dictionary

Make a dictionary of terms over the course, review this weekly so that you are ready for your final which could contain large amounts of vocabulary.

If you are a flash card aficionado, consider using the Frayer method to set up your cards. Punch a hole in the cards and join them together by using a string.

This is a tremendous resource to have crafted when it is time to study for your cumulative final!

Textbook Chapter Outlining

Feel like you aren't comprehending when you read your text? Make an outline as you read to reinforce the information. Answer reading focus, and reading checkpoint questions in the chapter as you go. These questions are there to guide you to the information you need to know as you read.
