I am excited to be apart of the Impact Academy community. Prior to joining the Impact Academy family, I served at Stockbridge High School. I hold high hopes for my students, holding the belief that all my students are able to accomplish their individual goals. Dynamic student / teacher relationships are an essential part of my class, and at times can be the key to student success.
I've included some fun facts about me below:
Education:
Bachelor of Arts in Political Science - University of North Carolina Wilmington
Master of Arts in Teaching (Secondary Education) - Georgia College and State University

Favorite thing about college:
I really enjoyed some of the general core courses that were mandated. Throughout high school I had a strong dislike towards math and science, college opened these courses up to help me find something that I love. My favorite class just turned out to be oceanography, which was paired with my PE scuba diving! During that course we ended up on the beach in the middle of a mild hurricane to check on some sea turtle nests we had been monitoring that semester.
Virtual is different than the normal classroom environment, but it can be just effective. Organization is paramount. An online world as a teacher has taught me to write things down on paper, while taking a segment of time to also organize my Google Drive to make important information quickly accessible.
While I will miss my physical classroom (pictured left), I am excited to make new memories with everyone in our new classroom hosted by Google.
Outside of the classroom I am actively involved in large breed dog rescue. I have had over 100 foster dogs, transporting and training over 500 dogs the last few years.
Having the chance to work with people in our local community gives me the chance to connect and reset. In a virtual world I think that this is very important to maintain a good work life balance.
With that being said, I have two rescue floofs of my own who have been promoted to teaching assistants.
