She achieved her National Board Certification for Professional Teachers in 2022, and this will be her twelfth year as a classroom teacher with experience in third, fourth, and fifth grades. Mrs. Green believes that school is not only an opportunity to gain knowledge, but also a chance to obtain relationships, life lessons, and meaningful experiences. She envisions her school year to be filled with life ready activities that not only challenge students to think critically, but also to problem solve with their peers and present their ideas in innovative ways. Mrs. Green teaches because she believes that every child deserves to have loving educators who will advocate for them to become the best student and person they can be. Mrs. Green lives in Hanover County with her husband, two sons, Easton and Beckett (both who attend Greenwood!), and several pets and farm animals. Mrs. Anne Koenig is so excited to begin her tenth year teaching at Greenwood Elementary. As the child of a career-long Henrico first-grade teacher, she grew up “behind the scenes” of an elementary school classroom. Raised in Rockville, she went through Hanover County Public Schools and graduated from Patrick Henry High School. She was inspired by many of her teachers, and she knew that she eventually wanted to become a teacher. Mrs. Koenig went to the University of Virginia. After a three-year stint working in sales, marketing, and business management in Falls Church, Virginia and Washington, DC, she moved back to the University of Richmond to get her master’s degree in education. After substitute teaching around the county at various schools, Mrs. Koenig taught kindergarten and fifth grade at Highland Springs Elementary for five years before moving to her home, Greenwood Elementary. She loves fifth grade because she watches students transition into young adults who are ready for middle school. She also loves the subject matter, and her vision for the year is to have students become more comfortable with reading and writing, and enjoy it more! When not at school, Mrs. Koenig loves spending time with her family and little princess dog, Lilly, at the pool or on the ball field.
Mrs. Carter Turner is a fifth grade teacher at Greenwood Elementary. She is a product of Hanover County Schools, graduating from Mechanicsville High School in 2003. After high school, she attended James Madison University, receiving a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies and a master's degree in Elementary Education. Greenwood has been her home for her entire teaching career of 15 years! As a language arts educator, Mrs. Turner's goal is for her students to develop a love for reading and writing. She believes that all children are unique and have something special they can bring to their own education. Students need to be encouraged as readers and writers and establish their own goals for learning. Her mission is to help them set, attain, and celebrate these goals. Mrs. Turner is looking forward to another amazing year at Greenwood. Go, Gators! Outside of school, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and her daughter, Olivia! Boating and relaxing by the water are some of their favorite activities to do as a family!
