Due: Monday, February 17th

About a month ago, we did a fun Workshop Wednesday activity and practiced writing a letter to professional football teams. Each student wrote to a different team in hopes that we would get a response. In the last two weeks, we have heard from the Washington Redskins, Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens, and Green Bay Packers. Some teams have sent fan packs with enough items to share with the class. This is the first time I've done this activity and seeing the excitement on the students' faces as made me thoroughly enjoy doing it.

**Reading Test #3 Thurs., Oct. 24th

Congratulations to one of our own for placing 12th in the Top 25 of week 1 Kahoot for Front Desk!

Students are participating in the Global Read Aloud. This project was created by Pernille Ripp in 2010 with a simple goal in mind; one book to connect the world. Now with many years under our belt and millions of connections made in more than 86 different countries, it is astounding to see the reach of this small idea.

The premise is simple; we pick a book to read aloud to our class during a set 6-week period and during that time we try to make as many global connections as possible. Each participant decides how much time they would like to dedicate and how involved they would like to be. Some people choose to connect with just one class, while others go for as many as possible.

We are connected with a 5th grade class in Canada and our reading The Front Desk by Kelly Yang. We have introduced ourselves with Ms. Sweet's class by sending postcards and will communicate and collaborate about the book through Google Docs, FlipGrid, etc. and participate in weekly Kahoots tor comprehension review of the chapters.

The students have been super excited and engaged in this and hopefully we will continue to interact with our friends in Canada after the Global Read Aloud ends!!!!
