Mrs. Nicolle Farrar is a product of Henrico County Public Schools. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and master's degree in Teaching Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Farrar has been a Greenwood Gator since the school opened. She is eager to begin her 27th year of teaching. She has taught kindergarten, first, second and is currently teaching third grade. Mrs. Farrar is excited she will be focusing on reading and language arts instruction. She loves being a part of a student’s transition from learning to read to reading to learn. Mrs. Farrar teaches with the hope of motivating and inspiring students to think for themselves in a safe and welcoming environment that encourages risk taking. Mrs. Farrar believes every student can grow academically, socially, and emotionally when they feel loved and respected. She is looking forward to fostering a classroom where her students communicate and collaborate as they encounter the daily challenges of the third grade curriculum. Mrs. Farrar is ready for the Magic of the 2022-2023 school year that is sure to be filled with enthusiasm towards learning!
Mrs. Karen Martin is excited to begin her seventeenth year of teaching at Greenwood! She graduated from the University of Virginia (WAHOOWA!) with a bachelor's degree in Sociology and earned a master’s degree in Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University. She worked for the Virginia Department for the Blind and Visually Impaired for fourteen years before following her dream to become a teacher by returning to school at the University of Richmond to earn her teaching certificate. Mrs. Martin believes that every child can be successful when they can learn in a safe environment that celebrates diversity. Her vision for this year is for students to learn to communicate, build relationships and believe in themselves as they grow and succeed in third grade. She is looking forward to inspiring students to explore Math, Science and Social Studies through hands-on learning and collaboration. Mrs. Martin is thrilled to begin the 2022-2023 school year and is ready to help her students navigate the “magical” journey through third grade!
Ms. Allie Reed is so excited to kick off her fourth year of teaching at her new school, Greenwood Elementary! She grew up in Hanover County and graduated from VCU with a master’s degree in Teaching. The last three years Ms. Reed has taught fourth grade and is excited to jump right into third grade! Her goal is to build strong relationships with her students and their families. She believes that school is a fun, safe place to learn and experience new adventures! Ms. Reed will be teaching Math, Science and Social Studies this year. Her plan is to bring in hands-on learning and music into the classroom to help the students grasp each concept. Ms. Reed is beyond thrilled for this new opportunity and can’t wait to meet her students. Go Gators!
Mrs. Leslie Wrighter is a product of Henrico County Public Schools. She received her bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Radford University. She is celebrating her twenty fifth year of teaching in Henrico and has been a part of Greenwood Elementary since its opening in 2004. She has taught kindergarten, first, second, and third grades. Mrs. Wrighter teaches because she enjoys building relationships and helping students become more confident in themselves. She firmly believes that the best classroom is one filled with laughter. She strives to teach students to embrace differences, learn from mistakes, and communicate effectively. This year she will be teaching Language Arts and wants to ignite a love of reading and writing in each student. Mrs. Wrighter is proud to teach at Greenwood and is excited to welcome students back to school!
