It was amazing to talk to a Hollywood film star. Richard was so down to Earth and answered all of the questions we put to him. He even said that some of our questions were better than some professionals had asked!!
He told us all about his early years. He was born in Tredomen on a snowy night. The doctors even told his Mother that if he had been born a day later, he would have had to be born in the house because the snow was too bad to get to a hospital!
Even though he moved from South Wales at an early age, he visits almost every year. He has fond memories of playing in local parks and around the Ystrad area.
He is extremely proud to be Welsh. He even sent an email to Wikipedia to change his biography from 'Welsh American actor' to 'Welsh actor.
The most famous person in his phonebook was Oscar winning actor, Cillian Murphy and he recalled fond memories of filming alongside him in shows such as Peaky Blinders and the movie Batman Begins.
When asked about special FX used in Game of Thrones, he told us that his face for the role of the Night King was make up and prosthetics! It took around 6 hours to put on and then he would film for 10 hours a day!
He has made a promise to keep in touch and visit us if he is back in Wales during term time!
