This course is designed to provide students with skills, knowledge and attitude to work backstage on theatrical productions or other live entertainment events. The students will learn to develop planning and organizational skills necessary to work behind the scenes (including set construction, theatrical lighting, stage management, and sound reinforcement). The students will learn the terminology used in the business. Learn reliability, responsibility, and the ability to work independently and as a team player to create magic on stage. This course is designed for beginning through advanced students who want hands on set construction experience. Students will design, construct, and paint sets for school productions. A basic knowledge of hand and power tools is helpful, but not necessary. This is an excellent opportunity for students with woodshop and construction experience to put their knowledge to use.
