Parent Support

Parent Partners

Parent Partners are parents who have first-hand experience with navigating the mental health system. Parent Partners are life-trained paraprofessionals who have successfully negotiated mental and behavioral health services on behalf of their child. These parents can offer a wealth of knowledge and experience. Parent Parents offer the following support:

  1. Linkages and Access to Resources

  2. Advocacy

  3. Parent Support and Training

Parent and Community Liaisons

Our parent and community liaisons act as a liaison between the school, parents, and students; to assist parents, and students in understanding school programs and, college and career options. Our liaisons help parents gain access to community services and resources such as:

  • Transportation

  • School Supplies

  • Medical and Food Stamps

  • Housing

  • Clothing

Wraparound Services

Wraparound is a strengths-based service that occurs in the home setting and takes a whole team approach. Wraparound follows a strengths-based, needs-driven approach. The intent is to build on individual and family strengths to help families achieve positive goals and improve well-being. Wraparound is a team-driven process.

Hemet USD partners with CA Mentor to offer families Wraparound services. These services are open to families with Medical, Molina, or IEHP.

Bridge Services

Bridge services are available to students returning to Hemet USD following an expulsion, Home and Hospital, or an extended Independent Study program. The Bridge program includes:

  • Weekly mentor meetings with a PBIS Specialist

  • Mental health support

  • Parent support

  • School-based team meetings to coordinate care.

In addition to the above services, Hemet USD also has mental health professionals available to offer free school-based mental health support to ALL students, with or without an IEP. If you would like your child to receive school-based mental health services, please complete the form below and a member of our Wellness Team will reach out to you to discuss service options.

Classes and Workshops for Parents

Strengthening Families Class

14-session, evidence-based parenting skills, children’s social skills, and family life skills training program specifically designed for high-risk families. Parents and children participate in SFP, both separately and together. Group Leader Manuals contain a complete lesson for every session. Parents’ and children’s Handouts are also provided for every session.

Seeking Strength

10-week group counseling offered by trained staff. The group is offered through our partner, Riverside University Health Systems.

Seeking Strength is the Seeking Safety course offered for parents. Seeking Strength is an evidence-based, present-focused group counseling model to help people attain safety from trauma and/or substance abuse.

Triple P

The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program is one of the most effective evidence-based parenting programs in the world, backed up by more than 35 years of ongoing research. Triple P gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children’s behavior, and prevent problems from developing. Triple P is used in more than 30 countries and has been shown to work across cultures, socio-economic groups, and in many different kinds of family structures.

Family Advocate Program

This program provides support for family members, significant others, or caregivers of adults or children with a serious mental illness. The primary function of the Family Advocate Program is to assist family members in coping with the illness of their loved one through information, education, and support. Additionally, they also provide group counseling, and information and assistance to family members in their interaction with service providers and the mental health system. Family Advocate staff are themselves family members and are sensitive to the concerns of other family members.
