Daily Participation
Students have the opportunity to earn 2 points each day for attending class and making progress on either of their two projects (sometimes both). A student can lose participation points for being off task, misusing materials, distracting others, or not complying with shop rules.
Quizzes
Safety and Behavior Contract: (50 Points)
The first quiz students will receive is the Safety and Behavior Contract. The contract must be read and signed by BOTH the student and their guardian, and returned to Mr. Lind before the student is allowed to use any equipment within the shop. The Safety and Behavior Contract is worth 50 points. If it is turned in late, it will lose 5 points for each day it is late.
Safety Quizzes
(20 Points)
There will be a number of safety quizzes assigned throughout the semester. The quizzes are pass/fail and are worth 20 points each. These quizzes ensure that students understand how to properly use the designated equipment safely. The practical application portion will consist of students demonstrating how to properly use the equipment while working through a safety checklist that will be covered during class. Each student will have a single opportunity to pass the safety quiz for each machine. If a quiz is failed, the student will lose points for that quiz and will have to use hand tools in place of the designated power tool.
*I hold the right to revoke any tool privileges for dangerous behavior.
Projects
(400 Points)
Students will complete two projects each quarter and each project will be worth 400 points. Students
This means that in order for students to be successful in this class they need to attend class as much as possible and participate to the best of their ability. If a student is going to be absent for any amount of time, they should email Mr. Lind (tlind@hellgatesd4.k12.mt.us).
Any work that students miss while absent must be made up during class time once they return.
Check out the amazing student work!
