Mission Statement
It is our goal to provide students with an environment where they can learn to use carpentry tools safely and efficiently. At Hellgate Middle School, we keep our shop program free for all students, allowing students from all backgrounds the opportunity to build skills that could be used throughout their lives. The philosophy of the Industrial Arts program is to engage students' minds by engaging their bodies. We use a project based curriculum to help students develop fine motor skills and learn critical life skills like time management and self regulation. Keeping students engaged in learning in this class means getting them on their feet, out of their comfort zones, and trying new things.
Donation Information
Our program thrives on generous donations from individuals and businesses. On average it costs about $15,000 dollars a year to maintain/purchase equipment and provide students with lumber and other supplies. We will gladly accept donations of lumber (dimensional lumber (2x4, 2x6, plywood, ect.)), tools, or funds. Donations are a vital part of our program and they allow us to provide learning opportunities for all students. An added bonus is all donations are tax deductible!
If you're interested in donating to our Industrial Arts program, please contact Tyler Lind (tlind@hellgatesd4.k12.mt.us).
