Meet Our Staff

Certified Academic Language Practitioners and Therapists

ALTA Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALTs) hold a Master's degree and have completed a rigorous program to provide diagnostic, explicit, systematic, and  multisensory intervention which builds a high degree of accuracy, knowledge, and independence for students with written-language disorders, including dyslexia.  In Texas, many CALTs are also licensed through TDLR, and may use the Texas credential Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (LDT).   Providers of dyslexia instruction may also complete the Certified Academic Language Practitioner program and may use the CALP credential. 

DYSLEXIA SPECIALISTS

Dyslexia Specialists in HEB ISD have completed specialized training in structured literacy programs, and work under the supervision of the department Coordinator.  While they may not carry an ALTA credential, specialists are trained in the latest research in the field of dyslexia and dysgraphia, as well as in the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading and spelling. 

Dyslexia Specialists

Dyslexia Specialists in HEB ISD have completed specialized training in structured literacy programs, and work under the supervision of the department Facilitator.  Many of our specialists have completed graduate level coursework in a language therapy program at the Therapist level, and use the credential Dyslexia Therapist.  All of our Dyslexia Specialists are trained in the latest research in the field of dyslexia and dysgraphia, as well as in the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading and spelling.
