In Kindergarten, students begin to develop an understanding of their place in the world through the study of self, home, school, and community. They explore basic concepts of time, location, and responsibility. Key topics include personal identity, holidays, symbols, authority figures, and rules. The TEKS guide students in recognizing national patriotic symbols and understanding the roles of family and school in their lives
For grades K through 6, social studies and science are taught on a 3-week rotation.
