What better way to make the most of a summer like no other than by going to a weeklong summer camp like no other?
Headliners in Education invited students of all ages and from all over the country to Summer Camp 2020, held July 20-24. There were two camp sessions -- morning Journalism and evening Journalism -- so students could pick the session that was right for them. The camp sessions were led virtually over Zoom, and they featured experts from all over the country interacting and teaching the HiE campers.
Danny is an American comedian, writer, and actor. He is best known for his work with Bill Maher on "Politically Incorrect" and "Real Time," where he won a Writers Guild of America award and was nominated for six Emmy awards. He has also written for "Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell" and "Lopez Tonight." Danny resides in Los Angeles where he performs standup comedy regularly at The Improv and The Comedy Store.
Patricia is the editor of the Spotlight Team, the Globe’s investigative unit that includes six reporters. She took over in 2017 after having previously worked as a reporter on the team more than two decades ago. She has been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize three times -– in 2004 for feature writing, in 2013 as part of a team for national reporting, and in 2018 as Spotlight editor overseeing a seven-part series on race issues in Boston.
Matt is a staff photographer for the Globe. While working for the Oakland Tribune, he took part in the staff award of the 1990 Pulitzer Prize for News Photography for coverage of the World Series earthquake.
Michael is a journalist, author, and podcaster. Since 2012, he has been the host and producer of It's All Journalism, a weekly podcast about journalism and the media. He's also an adjunct professor at the American University School of Communications, where he teachers audio storytelling in the Masters in Digital Storytelling program.

Gary is the national basketball writer and Celtics reporter at the Boston Globe. A UC Berkeley graduate, Gary is also the secretary for the NABJ Sports Task Force and former president of the Bay Area Baseball Writers Association.
David is founder and editor-in-chief of Callaway Climate Insights. He is the former president of the World Editors Forum, editor-in-chief of USA Today and MarketWatch, and CEO of TheStreet Inc.
Meg Heckman is a journalist, author, and educator focused on building a news ecosystem that is robust, diverse, and equipped to serve all segments of society. She's an assistant professor at Northeastern University's School of Journalism.
Michael graduated in 1968 from Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, where he was the editor of the Daily Northwestern, and graduated from Yale Law School in 1973. He practiced law for 40 years in Chicago; Since 2015, he has taught Ethics and Law to undergraduate and graduate students at Medill.
Jim is in his 43rd year — yes that’s correct, 43 — as a member of the Boston Globe sports department, the past 12 as an assistant sports editor.
Angélica is a TV/film editor, children's TV producer, independent filmmaker, and media instructor at CRLS.
Katina has been creating byline opportunities for teens for more than 25 years. She was a senior project editor on The Trace’s award-winning gun violence series, “Since Parkland,” and is the author of “A NewsHound’s Guide to Student Journalism.”
Kevin joined the University of Texas at Austin journalism faculty in 2012 after 22 years in daily newspapers. He teaches courses in sports journalism and feature writing. He has twice won first place in the Associated Press Sports Editors national writing competition, and he has written one book, a biography called “Harvey Penick: The Life and Wisdom of the Man Who Wrote the Book on Golf.”
John has worked in Boston newspapers for 30+ years, the last 20 at the Boston Globe, where he is multiplatform editor and page designer in the sports department. John also is a licensed English teacher in the Watertown Public Schools and is the founder of Headliners in Education.
