Every month, Headliners holds a first free and fun contest -- at least one writing and one photo -- open to all journalists Kindergarten through College. All contests are free to enter.
All winners and honorees will be featured on the contest section of HiE's showcase website.
Word of note: As we are still new at running this, there very well may be issues/problems/confusions/broken-ness, so PLEASE let us know at contests@headlinersineducation.org so we can fix them and help make your entry process easier next time.
For instructions on how to enter, drop a note to contests@headlinersineducation.org or visit our contest signup page, made with our friends at BetterBNC
Throughout the first month, we worked with our friends at BetterBNC to streamline the process, making it easier for students and teachers to submit entries.
Here is info and suggestions for making the contest-entry process easier (and with fewer tears):
Create your Contestant profile (student) or Contestant Manager profile (teachers) soon so that it’s already taken care of for whenever you decide to submit contest entries
If you participated in the February/March contest, you are all set to enter again whenever you wish
Students (submitting for themselves) -- Follow the Open Call steps to create a Contestant profile
Teachers (submitting for students) -- Request HiE to create a Contestant Manager profile on your behalf by filling out the Request Form HERE

The first HiE free monthly contest was pretty successful -- especially considering we were making it up from scratch!
We had 27 students submitting entries, with many students entering into more than one category. There were six categories in all -- three written, three photo.
The judge awarded certificates to the overall best submissions in each category, honoring 11 entries in all. All contest winners can be seen on their own special HiE Showcase section HERE.
