On May 27th, 2022, T.A Blakelock held its first prom since the beginning of the pandemic. All grade 12 students were invited to go to the Burlington Convention Centre to enjoy a fun night of dressing up and dancing with their friends.

Inside the Burlington Convention Centre, TAB's grade 12 students met in the emerald room. Ms. Sian and the Prom committee took their own time to decorate the room according to this year's chosen theme: enchanted forest. Not only had they decorated the prom venue, but they also sold the tickets, chose the food, found a DJ, and bought decorations.
At the start of prom, all students were ushered into the main foyer by the teachers. As people arrived, so did the compliments, boosting everyone's confidence! The overall atmosphere of prom was very welcoming.
As the last grade twelve students walked in, everyone began sitting down at their assigned tables and the food was served: pasta with chicken parmesan and a baked Alaska dessert.

The DJ began playing music after the food was eaten and everyone started piling onto the dance floor. There were dance battles and a Congo line, followed by slow dancing with dates as the music softened.
The next day, a few grade 12s were asked to comment on prom 2022. Shiv Ranjit says he's "never complimented so many people in one night." He was so surprised at how amazing everyone looked when they dressed up.
Another student, Nevan Murtagh, exclaimed, "Prom was such a fun atmosphere to be in!" Others who were interviewed also said kind words about the decorations and how enjoyable the event was.
At the end of the day, it could be said that this prom was a major success! Not only did it serve as an excuse to dress up, but it was a night to celebrate all four years of high school: the friendships built, the school spirit, and bringing the entire graduating class together for the last time before graduation. Prom, along with the graduation ceremony, marks the last days of high school and the start of a new adventure for the graduates. ConGRADulations, class of 2022!
