HDSB families, students, staff and community members are invited to the third session in the Director’s Panel Series on Bringing the Multi-Year Plan to Life to raise awareness about the commitments of the HDSB’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan. The final session in the panel series will be Indigenous Rights and Education on Tuesday, May 16 at 6 - 7:30 p.m. at hdsb.ca.
As a reminder, the HDSB is hosting a celebration of Student Excellence to recognize students across the Board. This year’s celebration was postponed and will take place virtually on Thursday, May 18. We are asking administrators to share the below information on your school social media accounts beginning Monday, May 15.
The HDSB is hosting mental health & well-being information sessions for parents/guardians. These sessions will cover specific topics based on feedback from parents/guardians. Each will be led by a mental health expert in that area who will share their knowledge and provide helpful information and resources.
Session Topics Include:
Empowering Parents: Supporting Children's Mental Well-Being in the Muslim Community
Prevention of Disordered Eating
Cyberbullying - Parenting in Today's Online World
Registration is required as limited spots are available. Register by completing the Mental Health & Well-Being Information Sessions Registration Form. Sessions will be held on Google Meet and registrants will be emailed a link to access the session. Closed captioning is available on Google Meet in various languages. Sessions will not be recorded. Parents/guardians will have the opportunity to submit questions when completing the registration form or during the session.
100 Strong Summer Academy is a 4-week summer program designed to inspire Black male youth. This year the program has expanded to include students entering grade 7, 8 and 9 (i.e., ages 11-14 years old)in the 2023-2024 school year.
Details about the program can be found in the linked flyer. Interested parents are encouraged to attend the virtual information session being held on May 17 (see flyer for details).

As you may know, through the Board’s Free Menstrual Products initiative, all HDSB schools have menstrual product dispensing machines installed in all female, gender-neutral and multi-stall female washrooms. We would appreciate your assistance in helping to promote this on your school social media accounts and websites. Please share the below messages on your school social media with the attached image and in your school newsletter/website update.
Kindergarten Registration
is open for the 2023-2024 school year! Families are invited to learn more about Kindergarten in the Halton District School Board, the Kindergarten Program, play-based learning, community resources in Halton and before and after school care at kindergarten.hdsb.ca.
To register to begin school in Fall 2023, Year 1 Kindergarten children must be four years old by Dec. 31, 2023 and Year 2 Kindergarten children must be five years old by Dec. 31, 2023. To identify your child's home school, please refer to information at “Find My Local School.” If you need assistance determining your home school, please contact plan@hdsb.ca.
