Practice skip counting by 2's, 5's, 10's, 25's from different numbers. See how high you can get! Make it a game by making one of the numbers a "buzz" number. Instead of saying the number you must say "buzz". Example instead of 3 say buzz. buzz, 6, 9, 12, 15.... 27, buzz
Play "Greatest number". Each partner pulls 3 cards. They need to create a 3 digit number from those cards. The person with the bigger number wins a point
Practice mental addition (up to 50) by asking to think of ways to answer questions without paper. Example what is 12 + 14, 22+18. Talk about how you solved it
Draw/create patterns with objects, shapes, numbers and actions
Math Activities For 2D Geometry:
Create a shape picture (design an art work out of using just shapes) describe or name the shapes in your picture
Play mystery shape- describe a 2D or 3D shape using its geometric properties and see if someone can guess the one you picked (e.g., I chose a shape with 6 sides, 6 vertices- a hexagon)
Go on a 2D or 3D shape hunt in your house. See how many you can find.
Grade 3's- go on an angle hunt around your house to find right angles, less than right angles, greater than right angles
