Homework

I believe homework is a valuable part of children's learning. It helps connect home and school and reinforce's concepts taught in the classroom. I also believe that homework will look different for every child, depending on the type of learner they are. This year I will not be giving out set homework each week but rather giving suggestions on what can be completed. I will also update this website regularly to include games/activities to work on at home with each new unit.

The only homework to be collected will be a weekly reading log that will be starting by the end of September where students can track the books they are reading. There may also be cases where students need to complete a project or activity at home that will be communicated via agenda and email.

Please feel free to be creative with extra practice. There are lots of ways to naturally implement extra practice through activities you already do at home (example- share memories in a scrap book where they have to write about trips/activities you have done together, have them create an invitation to an art show to display their art, read about news happening around them, etc.)

I would like each family to find a homework routine that works best for them. Below is a suggested guideline for weekly homework.

Suggested Look For Weekly Homework

Monday- Read for 20 mins, complete a math activity from math tab (either online or paper)

Tuesday- Read for 30 minutes on Raz kids

Wednesday- Use Dreambox for 30 minutes

Thursday- Read for 20 minutes, write about a topic of interest for 20 minutes

Friday- Read for 20 minutes

Bonus- look at the science and social tabs to reinforce the units we are studying in school.
