Throughout the semester you will do three short presentations to the class, in which you share music with the class which you think is worth listening to. These songs have sparked your interest for one reason or another and you are going to tell the class why. Using music specific terminology and analysis techniques you are going to guide the class through purposeful listening. You should analyze the elements of music within your selection and give a brief analysis of the musical elements found in the piece either before or after listening. Remember to make musical, personal, cultural, emotional and idealogical connections where possible to the music. It is strongly encouraged that you guide the class through listening with a purpose by having visuals or anecdotes to support your presentation/discussion.
You must share two songs of your choice with the class.
One song, without lyrics, completely instrumental, any genre.
Second song, with lyrics, any genre.
The third song (Instrumental only, except for the odd one) must be taken from the list below.
This list was complied from the most musical people that Mr. Carson-Foster knows.
This is what they wanted to share with you.
Please choose something you don't already know. Take some time to listen and see what you like out of this list. They suggested it for a reason, try to figure out why.
