Weeks 1-3: Explore Logic
- Create a new project file - establish key and tempo (turn on metronome)
- Record a drum track using midi (software instrument) - Quantize the Drums
- Record a bass line using midi (software instrument) - Quantize
- Record a chord progression (keyboard type sound) - Quantize
- Come up with some sort of melody to play on top of the whole track.
- Come up with two different sections to your song, make all four tracks for both sections.
- Bounce track and send it to teacher.
Weeks 4-7: Hip Hop Track
- Use Midi to create, rhythm track, bass line, chord progression, not melody except if you want a hook.
- Write and record rap lyrics over your track, using a microphone and XLR cable to record.
- Make sure track is quantized and sounding good before you record the lyrics on top.
- Record your vocal part 4 times minimum, over the same track (this is called takes)
- After you have 4 takes of your vocals, comp them into the best track by highlighting the best parts of each take, Logic will move seamless between them for you.
- Bounce your song and send it to your teacher.
Weeks 8-11: Electronic Performance - Explore Maschine and digital turntables
- Get Native Instruments - Maschine and SHSM Computer #1 and begin to explore making tacks and loops using Maschine, this is good for making loops on the fly and performance.
- Get the Digital Turntables and SHSM Computer #5 with Serato on it, this is the only program compatible with the turn table.
Weeks 12-15: Create a Cover
- Choose a song that you'd like to make an electronic cover of.
- Learn how to play it on the piano/keyboard
- Start to build the song by repeating all the steps from the first project.
- This time begin to explore sound effects and equalizing.
Weeks 16-20: Performance Task
- Create 4-8 Songs with a common theme. If you are not doing lyrics, come up with a common sound or theme that you want your songs to sound like (e.g. Space, water, the city, etc.)
- Follow all the steps we have learned so far in this course for music creation.
- Bounce and send all songs to teacher upon completion.
