Advanced Placement (AP) exams allow high school students who excel on these exams the opportunity to gain university credits* while still in high school. These exams are written in May and are usually 2-3 hours in length. Any student who pays the examination fee may write an AP exam, and those students who take AP courses are usually better prepared. Students taking AP courses in HDSB will be assessed and evaluated on the Ontario Curriculum; the AP curriculum is built into the course as an enhancement to the Ontario Curriculum.
The following HDSB schools currently offer AP courses.
Abbey Park High School is not an exam centre. ONLY students who attend Abbey Park are eligible to take AP courses and exams.
* The Advanced Placement curriculum is set by the College Board which is based in the United States. Check individual Ontario University websites for information specific to AP achievement requirements and credit transfer eligibility, as these vary by institution.
