10 Reasons to Join Cross Country

1.Be Part Of A Winning Tradition

  • 2016 Junior Girls Halton Champions & GHAC Finalists

  • 2014 JB Halton Champions

  • 2013 Halton Champions

2. Get Physically and Mentally Stronger

It takes excellent conditioning and will-power to run a 4, 5 or 6 km race. Our program provides runners with both.

3. Improve Your Performance In Another Sport

Cross country training can be used as a conditioner for other sports such as swimming, hockey, soccer, baseball, lacrosse and track. Athletes who wish to improve their stamina, agility, quickness and overall strength are wise to do so.

4. Join An Excellent Peer Group

Generally speaking, our runners are excellent students, self-motivated and positive people who know what it takes to succeed and bring a strong commitment to all of their endeavours.

5. Have Fun

Our runners work hard but also know how to have fun.

6. Build Lasting Friendships

There is a whole social dimension to being a part of our team. We run together. Many runners say that the best thing about cross country is just being with their teammates.

7. Be In The Starting Lineup

Unlike most sports where many athletes sit on the bench waiting to get into the contest, everyone starts every cross country race and everyone’s time is recorded and recognized. There are no bench-warmers in cross country!

8. Receive Individual Attention

Every athlete’s performance is given attention by the coaches. Each runner is given both individual instruction and the time needed for development and improvement. It doesn’t matter if you are the last person or the first person on the team. Your effort and improvement will be recognized and respected.

9. Have A Genuine “Team” Experience

There is such a thing as team strength, team unity and team spirit. Cross country runners create this positive force and then feed off it.

10. Gain A Feeling Of Accomplishment and Personal Satisfaction

Running a good race, completing a hard workout and seeing one’s time improve are all very rewarding. The greater the challenge, the greater the satisfaction.
