Hello! I'm Jenn Massey (she/her) and I am so excited to once again be teaching Grade 7 at DDW. I'll be teaching Math & Science this year and am the homeroom teacher of 7-1.
In 2014, I completed my Bachelors of Applied Science in Human Nutrition and worked at Credit Valley Hospital as a Diet Technician. I was also volunteering with the Heart & Stroke Foundation, conducting nutrition seminars in schools, which was where I found my passion for teaching. I then moved to Wales to complete my Postgraduate Certificate in Education in 2016 at Cardiff Met. Mynd dreigiau! Since moving home to Canada I have worked to make my teaching accessible to all students. This has involved courses in Special Education, Teaching English Language Learners, and Integrating Technology in the Classroom. Additionally, I have experience teaching in Special Education classrooms and almost everything from Kindergarten to Grade 8, (online and in-person). This will be my ninth year with the Halton District School Board and I'm so excited to be teaching Grade 7 for the fourth time.
When I'm not in school you can find me training for obstacle course races (like Tough Mudder), reading novels, and planning my next road trip across Canada (one province left to visit).
My name is Mr. Springett (he/him) and I am excited to be the homeroom teacher for class 7-3 and teaching intermediate Visual Arts this year. As I studied Fine Arts in University, I am really look forward to helping all of our students find their medium in the Arts.
Outside of school I am an avid wildlife photographer, taking photos and video of primarily birds. I really enjoy sharing my interest in the outdoors with my students. At DDW, I run our school's Photography Club, Art Club and our Yearbook Club for our intermediate students.
Hi, My name is Mr. Watts. I am originally from Tasmania, Australia which is why I have the accent. I have been a teacher nearly all my life spending much of my time in Macau and China in International Schools. I met a wonderful Canadian teacher while in Macau and we eventually came to Canada to live. I have now been teaching in Canada for 13 years. I have two amazing children and live in the town of Oakville. I love languages (especially Chinese) and I speak Mandarin and Cantonese and a little Farsi. I love cultures and I live between my own, Chinese and Persian cultures and the mix is fantastic, particularly the food!
I believe everyone of us has something special to offer and each one has a talent or something we are good at that needs to be found. My job is to help you find it.
I love basketball and have coached for years. I love Chinese and Western Chess and hope I can teach you how to play those. I am passionate about games and think that if you are having fun you will learn more. Technology is important to me as a tool for doing your work and it has its place. Most important of all is that I believe; who you are is more important than what you know.
My name is Ms. Quinlan and I am excited to be the homeroom teacher for 7-4 this year, as well as the dance and drama teacher for our intermediate students. I am looking forward to getting to know each of your children and supporting them in their learning, growth, and creativity both inside and outside the classroom.
I am passionate about creating a welcoming classroom environment where students feel comfortable to take risks, express themselves, and work together as a community. In dance and drama, I enjoy encouraging students to be creative, build confidence, and collaborate with one another in fun and meaningful ways.
I am excited for the year ahead and can’t wait to work together with families to support student success.
