The intent of the PE and dance department is to teach children life skills that will positively impact their future, ensuring pupils are able to make informed decisions to improve their emotional, social and physical well-being. We provide a practical learning environment that inspires pupils to succeed, and we open opportunities to potentially further their sporting career in the local community and for some to perform at higher levels in sport and/or prepare for careers within the health and leisure industry. Our intent is to promote life skills that are embedded, so pupils understand fairness, trust and working with others. Pupils are then more prepared to take the next stage of their education at KS4 and 5.
Clubs are back for All Year Groups!

For competing in 3 games for the school. Pupils will be given a bar badge that they can proudly wear on their blazers.
These coloured bar badges will be based on the colour of the pupils tie for the year they are currently in.
Homework can be found on the pupil's satchelone accounts. These homeworks link to the KS4 curriculum.
Pupils will receive homework fortnightly and termly. The termly homework is self assessment based.
After participating in Physical Education and Dance the pupils are assessed on their practical performance using the following rubrics.
They are also assessed on their extended writing within their homework task.
Withing the PE department and with the government removing the use of levels we have decided to adopt the head, heart and hands approach.
It focuses on three key areas:
Head (Thinking):
Developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and understanding. This is about knowledge, reasoning, and intellectual skills.
Heart (Feeling):
Nurturing emotional intelligence, empathy, values, and relationships. This is about caring, kindness, and understanding ourselves and others.
Hands (Doing):
Encouraging action, creativity, and practical skills. This is about applying what students learn through real-world experiences and hands-on learning.
This helps to educate pupils as a whole ans supports, mental, emotional and physical development. It allows them to use their hands, learn by doing this will help to retain knowledge and develop skills they’ll actually use in life - like collaboration resilience and responsibility It supports students becoming more emotionally aware, respectful and socially responsible. When learning connects with the head, heart and hands students are more interested, engaged and motivated because they see the purpose behind what they learning.
The following shows how pupils will be assessed in sport.
