About Us

Our Universal Prekindergarten program for the Hamburg Central School District is housed at the Charlotte Avenue Elementary School. We promote positive learning experiences through the New York State Early Learning Guidelines which addresses the following domains:

Domain 1: Physical Well-Being, Health, and Motor Development

Domain 2: Social and Emotional Development

Domain 3: Approaches to Learning

Domain 4: Cognition and General Knowledge

Domain 5: Language, Communication, and Literacy

The domains are utilized in classroom instruction based upon our knowledge of child development. This is further individualized to meet the diverse needs of all of our students. We create a safe and engaging learning environment to promote children exploring and learning. Building a trusting relationship with each child and their family is key to our success. Pre-K helps children become independent, self-confident and enthusiastic learners.

Our children attend five days a week. Presently we have a morning session (9:00-11:30 am) and an afternoon session (12:30-3:00 pm) as well as one full-day classroom (9:00 am-3:00 pm). Placement in the full day classroom is by lottery and the AM/PM sessions are based on the bus transportation schedule which is based on where your child will be picked up/dropped off each day within the borders of the Hamburg Central School District.

Prekindergarten is the start of your child's educational journey and we look forward to partnering with you on this pathway to success.
