Transitioning to Windows 10 is a pretty painless process (almost joyful). But there is one thing that may stick in your craw. If you have been an avid SMART Notebook user, you may find that SMART Notebook is no longer among the programs installed on your machine.
Have no fear: the vast majority of your SMART Notebook files can still be opened!
The solution to this problem is one that SMART solved many moons ago.
In an effort to give teachers a way to access their files on a machine missing their Notebook program, they created SMART Notebook Express which is a web-based version of the software you know and love.
It doesn't feature all of the functionality that the full-blown desktop software has, but it has enough for you to be able to use the things you've created and edit them minimally.
Some files with many interactive elements may not work as well as they do on the desktop version, but the core of the SMART Notebook experience is there. I opened up the Koosh Ball game, which has lots of "stuff" going on, and it worked flawlessly.
Opening your files in SMART Notebook Express is pretty easy:
Click on this link to go to the website
Click the button for Open an existing Notebook file
Find the file you want, and click open
The rest of your experience will be very similar to what you've always done with Notebook, but you'll notice you don't have access to quite so many resources or tools.
